Accommodation And Film School In Plettenberg Bay
Beyond Borders Film School has chosen Trogon House and Forest Spa as its home - http://www.trogonhouse.co.za . This lodge is suspended in the treetops of a private 16 hectares forest reserve that stretches untamed along the Tsitsikamma Mountains and beyond.
Elevated in the tree tops and using only natural materials, this unique establishment embraces the forest by means of glass walls and sky-lit roofs, inviting the forest inside and creating a true "nature forest" experience.
The picturesque seaside town of Plettenberg Bay with its stunning endless stretches of white sandy beaches and pristine coastline, ocean based activities and gastronomic delights is only a 15 minute drive away.
The lodge offers 6 suites in total divided into two villas : Malabar Villa and Tomba Villa. Our school takes the exclusive use of Tomba villa.
Tomba Villa comprises one Master Suite, one Double deluxe and one Twin Deluxe. Hence three students minimum and six maximum. Depending on the group composition we can turn all the bedrooms into double or twin rooms. Each room is equipped with under floor heating for the chilled winter nights. The villa comprises a very elegant lounge, two fire places, a kitchen, a large swimming pool and a deck.
Malabar Villa, an exact replica of Tomba villa is connected to Tomba by means of a wooden walkway meandering through the forest. Malabar also comprises three rooms, a very elegant lounge, two fire places, a kitchen and a bar, a large swimming pool and a deck. Malabar Villa is reserved for the guests only and our students will have access to this side of the lodge when there are no guests present.
The wooden walkway that links the two Villas takes one to the Forest Boma. Depending on the weather, lectures can be done in the boma, as well as dinner - under the cool of the trees on a hot summer day and gently lit by the moon, stars and fire light at night. Absorb the scent of the forest, observe the dance of the fireflies, the serenity of being one with Nature and enjoy the company of like-minded people.
At the end of the wooden walkway you will discover the Forest Spa, and some say the smallest luxury SPA in Africa. It can be booked by prior arrangement for your exclusive use (at your own charge). The secluded thatch structure has a glass steam room, a jacuzzi and a stone fireplace with plenty of candles to ensure a truly cosy and relaxing experience. Various treatments can also be arranged (at your own charge), as can a delicious tapas platter and a bottle of Method Cap Classique to put the cherry on top of your self-pampering session.
The forest around us houses all form of life; birds in particular are in abundance with the rarer Knysna Turaco (Tauraco corythaix) as well as the Narina Trogon (Apaloderma narina). Of course with Monkeyland neighboring our property, the howling cries of the monkeys and lemurs can be heard from dusk until dawn bringing an enchanted feeling to this green wonderland.

African Safaris And Travel
AfricanSafaris.Travel, (under the leadership of Louis van Tonder) has been actively involved in the safari industry since the late seventies. The thrill of sharing our beloved Africa is still as fresh and exciting as it was back then... We brought our safari businesses over to the U.S.A. in 1994 to share our dreams and adventures with travelers here and elsewhere abroad. This website, represents many years of designing, researching and operating safaris to the far-out corners of Africa. The fact that we are often in Africa personally, and have constant interaction with the companies we represent, allows us to remain vitally connected to the pulse of Africa - to her political, social and ecological realities.
AfricanSafaris.Travel actively supports the principle of developing of Africa's natural resources sustainably through low-density, high quality Tourism. "Environmentally intelligent" Tourism is nowhere such an important issue as in Africa. All safaris and safari programs have been developed in conjunction with the safari outfitters who are dedicated to conserving Africa's precious and unique resources. All the lodges and camps featured in our programs have been built with absolute minimal impact on the local fauna and flora, and all camps operate under the dictates of approved wildlife management.
