The Sustainability/Integrated Reporting course is not just about reporting. The team also coaches the attendees about practical applications of sustainability principles and how to operationalise these principles. ESS has presented this course and workshop in South Africa, Zambia, Mauritania, Zimbabwe and Nigeria.

An in-depth look at the Integrated Report, both the recent developments and implementation of the concept, will be part of the programme during the training course.

However, the global market for these products is immense and provides ample incentive for unsustainable use of wildlife. As a result, overexploitation of targeted species is a critical threat to biodiversity conservation. Unsustainable wildlife trade is the second-biggest threat to species survival, after habitat destruction.

Increasing, the Illegal Wildlife Trade in Bird Markets in Java and Bali Islands

The illegal wildlife trade occurring in a number of bird (animal/pet) markets in Java and Bali Islands has been likely to increase since early 2012. ProFauna Indonesia’s survey conducted in eight bird markets in the islands between January and February 2012 shows an increase in the number and species of animals being traded. In January 2012, there were more than 41 protected animals sold in the markets While in February, the figure increased to 62 individuals. Likewise, the species also increases.
